Peter D. Giglione
Peter Giglione received both his B.A. in Journalism and Public Relations in 1999, as well as his Juris Doctorate degree in 2002 from Duquesne University. During law school he traveled the country with both the appellate and trial moot court teams. In 2002, he was selected Best Advocate for the Northeast U.S. for his performance at the American College of Trial Lawyers trial competition.
Prior to joining Wilkes & McHugh, P.A. in 2005, Mr. Giglione practiced law with Marshall, Dennehey, Warner, Coleman & Goggin, P.C. where he gained defense litigation experience in areas of law such as products liability, toxic torts, and premises liability.
Mr. Giglione is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. He is a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association, the West Virginia State Bar, the American Bar Association, and the American Association for Justice.
He is the recipient of the Katie Elisabeth Westbrook Award, which is awarded annually by the faculty at Duquesne University to the student who expresses the most passion for the law with respect to trial advocacy. Also while in law school, Mr. Giglione was elected to the Justice Louis E. Manderino Honor Society and the National Order of Barristers by the law school faculty.
Mr. Giglione has tried multiple nursing home cases on behalf of nursing home residents and their families.
Mr. Giglione is currently an adjunct Professor of Law at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, where he teaches the Legal Issues in Healthcare course to undergraduates and Masters and Doctorate degree candidates, and serves as an instructor in the Trial Moot Court program at the Duquesne University School of Law. In 2008, Mr. Giglione was awarded a Citation by the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in recognition of his work with the Duquesne University School of Law's Trial Moot Court team, which won the prestigious Tournament of Champions national trial competition that year.
In 2011 and 2010, Mr. Giglione was voted a "Pennsylvania Rising Star" by Super Lawyers Magazine - an honor awarded to attorneys in Pennsylvania who have been practicing for 10 years or less. The recognition is awarded to no more than 2.5 percent of all practicing attorneys in Pennsylvania.
Mr. Giglione has been interviewed and quoted by local newspapers and television networks about elder abuse and neglect, and related cases against nursing homes involving injuries to nursing home residents.
